Who We Are

Our hearts are painted into every inch of our business, from the logo to how we approach partnerships.

The Logo Design

Starting with the design of our logo. It is in the Zen Buddhist calligraphy style and embraces the Japanese concept of Wabi-Sabi.

In this style of calligraphy, you have one chance to paint your art. We like that it represents one chance to do the right thing for our people and the earth. We don't want to spend it helping one person. God put us here to do more. We have one life and want to live it, helping as many of those around us as possible.

We don't take this to mean our one chance needs to be perfect. In the concept of Wabi-Sabi, Wabi means simplicity, humility, and living in tune with nature. It describes someone content with little and making the most of whatever they have while always moving towards having less.

On the other hand, Sabi refers to what happens with the passage of time. It is about transience, beauty, and authenticity of age.

Practicing wabi is learning to accept the natural cycle of growth and decay, life and death, and embracing the imperfections that come with it.

Putting the two together evokes a feeling rooted in mindfulness to promote harmony and serenity. We are encouraged to find perfection in that which is imperfect.

The Symbols - The Ensō and The Feather

Ensō is Japanese and means circle. The sign comes from Japanese calligraphy – although it is a Symbol, not a character. In this teaching, the ensō stands for enlightenment, perfection, strength, elegance, the universe, and the void.

In our logo, we also use it to represent the lion's mane. The lion and its mane have meant many things throughout history. When we look at it, we see courage. Courage to do the right thing when tempted to take the easy way out. Courage to do what has not been done before. Courage to leave a comfort zone to be better. We also see loyalty, protection, and the pride (lion family unit) we build for our partners. We value family above all else because it encompasses so much. Our family is our past, present, and future, and it takes commitment, loyalty, and many other qualities to keep families together and healthy.

Our feather comes from a phoenix. Like the lion, the phoenix represents many things to many people. We see it as our freedom to start a new path for us and our partners and the balance that needs to exist between us and the world we live in for all of us to survive and prosper. We also see it as growth. With every challenge the lion gives us the courage to face, we grow as the phoenix does. And as the phoenix, the more we grow, the brighter we burn. Ultimately, we hope to be a blazing flame lighting the future until we burn up in a dazzling display of power and light.
